A delegation from JICA visited ZEST Schools Project Karachi

March 20, 2017: A delegation from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) visited ZEST Schools Project karachi (ZEST for changing lives). Delegates examined the different aspects of the non-formal schooling and sessions of awareness campaign. Senior JICA officials appreciated the efforts of THE NGO WORLD team managing the said project.
Delegation was comprised of;

ZEST School Opening Ceremony

January 07, 2015: The NGO World Foundation inaugurated first ZEST School in Basti Chawan, Tehsil Kabirwala, District Khanewal as a part of ZEST project. Community members appreciated the initiative in their area by practically participating in the event and praising the effort of The NGO World Foundation. Mr. Muhammad Arshad – Manager Operations briefed the community members and teacher about the concept and operation of ZEST Schools. 35 Children (age of 7-11) got admission in the school and will complete their primary education within 03 years.

Before starting opening schools, ZEST trainer delivers training to selected teachers. Training was managed by using local available resources and following principles of simplicity.

The NGO World (TNW) has taken initiative to open ZEST Schools (non formal) under ZEST project. In this initiative young boys and girls (age 7-11 yrs who are out of school due to different reasons) are identified to provide them education up to primary level within duration of three years . After completion of primary they will be sent to main stream schools from grade six. During the 03 years students complete the lessons of govt. syllabus along with different activities for their awareness raising and leadership skills.

Initially these low cost schools are being opened with support of local philanthropists on certain locations of district khanewal. ZEST team will be looking for support from more and more donors/philanthropists to expand its circle in two districts of Punjab i-e Khanewal and Jhang during 2015.

22 May: ZEST talent scholarships delivered among the winners. Initiator of the ZEST (Executive Director – The NGO World Foundation) distributed and enjoyed his best time with the students. Total 50 scholarships were delivered in Government Elementary School 491 Jhang.

ZEST (ZakaUllah Educational Scholarships & Trainings) programme is launched to support poor/oppressed but talented students, leading towards a programme to empower the beneficiary students enabling them to perform as change agent resulting in their respective families social status uplift.

Through this programme we aimed to:

  • Stop drop outs of talented students before matriculation.
  • Motivate them to continue their educational quest by awarding scholarships and fulfilling their educational needs without damaging their self esteem and dignity.
  • Reduce the pressure on students to lend hand in small earnings by parents and quitting school.
  • Interventions to sustain the livelihood of parents of the beneficiary students.
  • Ensure quality education by delivering teacher’s trainings and improving infrastructure.
  • Acknowledgement and appreciation for the teachers against their exceptional educational services for the future of the nation.

The program is entitled with the name of a respected & devoted teacher (Rtd.) Mr. Zaka Ullah who enlightening his students throughout his life with a devotion & dedication.

  • Initially the required resources are provided by the old pupils of Mr. ZakUllah on limited scale but they are committed to enhance the circle of ZEST services on broader scale.
  • TNW is hopeful that ZEST will contribute to lessen the effects of all types of poverty, discrimination, oppression and suppression prevailing in the society.
  • ZEST is launched from a school of tehsil Shorkot (District Jhang) with plans to expand it in the whole region.

TNW provided uniforms, stationary, books and assisted in paying tuition fee to the deserving students. We supported 2464 students of 30 institutions so far.
